The record group includes: a roll of honor (ca. 1872) of citizens of Michigan killed during the Civil War, offering name, residence, and remarks relating to rank, unit served and time and place of death (compiled by John Radiger); photographic still prints (ca. 1900-1962), 2,021 prints showing personnel, equipment, camp facilities, training and duty activities of the State Troops; portraits (1890, 1920, 1924), colored oil portraits of William T. McGurrin (by W.L. Knowles), Joseph B. Westnedge (by Paul Trebilcock), and P.R. Dunigan (by M. Alten); issues of Michigan on guard (v. 1, no. 1 May 1, 1944- v. 4, no. 3 Mar. 1947); newspaper clippings (1944) relating to the State Troops and National Guard; and the manuscript History of Michigan State Troops, 1941-1947.
